Resemble AI stopped selling voice generation and cloning on August 13, 2026 and now sells deepfake detection. To rebuild your custom voices, ElevenLabs is the best all-round replacement for cloning and speech-to-speech, Respeecher suits consent-heavy studio and film work, and Cartesia or Inworld suit real-time voice agents. Fish Audio is the cheapest hosted clone, and Chatterbox lets you keep Resemble's own models on your servers.
If you’re searching for Resemble AI alternatives, you probably just lost your voice vendor. On August 13, 2026, Resemble AI stopped selling voice generation and cloning and went all-in on deepfake detection.
Its CEO’s own post says it is “not selling voice AI to new customers”. Existing voice customers are still supported, but no new voice models are coming for sale.
This guide is for former Resemble voice customers who need a new home for custom clones, speech-to-speech and API work. All seven tools below are live and taking customers in October 2026, and every price was checked on the vendor’s own site in US dollars.

What happened to Resemble AI’s voice products
Resemble AI’s product notice: voice generation is no longer a commercial product
Resemble AI sold rapid and professional voice cloning, speech-to-speech, localization and a TTS API. Its product notice now reads: “We’ve stopped offering voice generation as a commercial product and are now focused on AI detection, watermarking and multimodal security.”
The reasoning is in CEO Zohaib Ahmed’s August 13, 2026 post. It cites Resemble’s own H1 2026 threat report: at least 15,736 people victimized across 821 documented deepfake attacks in six months.
Three things matter if you were a Resemble voice customer:
- New voice sales have stopped. Resemble says it supports existing customers but isn’t taking new ones.
- No new commercial voice models. Whatever your clone sounds like today is as good as it will get on Resemble.
- The open models stay open. Chatterbox and Resemble’s other generative voice models moved to a Voice AI Research archive, “still open, still free to build on”.
So the practical move is to re-clone now, while you still have access to your Resemble account and your original recordings.
What to look for in a Resemble AI alternative
Resemble customers tend to care about four things more than the average TTS buyer.
Clone quality from your own data. Resemble’s professional clones trained on longer recordings. Check whether each tool offers a professional tier, how much clean audio it wants, and which plan includes it.
Consent and verification. Resemble built its brand on consented voices. Look for voice verification on professional clones, written consent requirements, and clear rules on who owns the clone.
Speech-to-speech. If you re-voiced performances rather than typing text, you need a voice changer that keeps timing and emotion. Not every TTS API has one.
API, compliance and deployment. Check SOC 2, BAAs, data agreements and on-premises options if you ran Resemble inside a regulated product. Billing differs too: most APIs charge per character, while studios charge per minute.
1. ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs Voice Changer: re-deliver a recording in another voice, keeping whispers, laughs and accents
ElevenLabs is the best all-round Resemble AI alternative, covering instant cloning from $6/month, professional cloning, speech-to-speech and an API in one account. It’s where most former Resemble customers will land, and for good reason.
Instant clones need a short sample. Professional clones need 30+ minutes of clean audio, and ElevenLabs suggests about 3 hours for the best result, which matches how Resemble’s professional tier worked.
The Voice Changer re-voices recordings up to 5 minutes long in 29 languages, at 1,000 credits per minute. ElevenLabs says its clones can speak 32+ languages from text.
Pros
- Instant cloning from Starter ($6/month), professional cloning from Creator ($22/month)
- Speech-to-speech through the Voice Changer and its API
- Voice verification on professional clones, so nobody clones a voice they don’t own
- One account also covers TTS on Eleven v4, dubbing, music and sound effects
Cons
- Costly at volume: Creator’s 121,000 credits buy about 121 minutes of speech or voice changing
- Free plan has no commercial licence and no cloning
- Credit costs differ by model and feature, so budgeting takes work
Best for: Teams that want one vendor for clones, speech-to-speech and API, and will pay for the quality. For more options in this lane, read our ElevenLabs alternatives guide.
Pricing: Free (10,000 credits/month, no commercial use), Starter $6/month (30,000 credits), Creator $22/month (121,000), Pro $99/month (600,000), Scale $299/month (1.8M), Business $990/month (6M), Enterprise custom. Checked October 2026 on elevenlabs.io/pricing.
2. Respeecher
Respeecher: speech-to-speech voice cloning for film, games and media, plus a new TTS API
Respeecher is a speech-to-speech voice cloning company for film, TV, games and advertising, with self-serve plans from a $5 credit pack. It’s the closest match to Resemble’s enterprise side: custom voices built with the voice owner’s consent, under contract.
Speech-to-speech is the core. An actor performs the line, and Respeecher re-voices it as the target voice while keeping their timing and emotion.
The Voice Marketplace adds a library of 40+ licensed voices and a Pro Tools plugin. Respeecher also launched a real-time TTS API for voice agents, which its FAQ prices at $2 per hour pay as you go.
Pros
- Built around speech-to-speech, so performances keep their acting
- Ethics policy with consent mechanisms and voice-origin tracking
- Pay-as-you-go credits from $5, with no subscription
- Pro Tools plugin for audio post-production teams
Cons
- Custom voice clones of your own talent are an Enterprise, contact-sales deal
- Self-serve voice library is small (40+ voices) next to ElevenLabs or Fish Audio
- The TTS API is new, so its language and latency claims are less proven
Best for: Studios, game teams and agencies who need a licensed, consented voice and re-voice real performances.
Pricing: Pay as you go from $5 (5 speech-to-speech minutes or 20,000 TTS characters). Subscriptions: TTS only $18/month, Creator $89/month (90 STS minutes, 400,000 characters), Power $499/month (900 STS minutes, 3M characters), Enterprise custom. Checked October 2026 on respeecher.com.
3. Cartesia
Cartesia: Sonic text to speech and voice cloning for real-time apps
Cartesia is a real-time voice API whose Sonic 3.6 model targets first audio in under 90 ms across 44 languages. If you ran Resemble’s API behind a phone agent or assistant, this is the speed-first replacement.
Instant clones need about 10 seconds of audio and start on the $5 Pro plan. Professional clones, trained on 30 minutes or more of one speaker, start on Startup with two slots.
Its voice changer swaps the voice in a recorded clip. It works on files, not live calls.
Pros
- Sub-90 ms time to first audio, per Cartesia
- Instant cloning from 10 seconds on Pro ($5/month)
- SOC 2 Type II certified, with BAAs on Enterprise
- On-premises or VPC deployment through sales
Cons
- API-first, with no studio for long-form narration
- Free plan has no cloning
- Concurrency is capped by plan: 2 TTS requests on Free, 5 on Startup
Best for: Developers who need cloned voices inside real-time agents, and compliance teams who need on-prem.
Pricing: Free (20K credits/month), Pro $5/month (100K), Startup $49/month (1.25M, 2 professional clone slots), Scale $299/month (8M, 4 slots), Enterprise custom. Checked October 2026 on cartesia.ai/pricing.
4. Fish Audio
Fish Audio: voice cloning, voice changer and a community library of 2,000,000+ voices
Fish Audio is the cheapest hosted Resemble AI alternative, with cloning on every plan and an API at $15 per million UTF-8 bytes. Clones work from about 10 to 15 seconds of audio.
Paid plans add professional voice slots: one on Plus, five on Pro and fifteen on Max. The site also lists a voice changer and speech-to-text.
The trade-off is control. The public library is huge but uneven, and the consent tooling is lighter than ElevenLabs or Respeecher.
Pros
- Cloning on every plan, including Free
- S2.1 Pro API at $15 per million UTF-8 bytes, about $0.81 per hour of English speech
- Professional voice slots from the $11 Plus plan
- Voice Design on paid plans, plus speech-to-text in the same account
Cons
- Free tier is personal, non-commercial use only, per its FAQ
- Community voice quality varies a lot
- Non-Latin scripts use more bytes per character, so the API costs more there
Best for: Creators and indie developers who need many cloned voices on a small budget.
Pricing: Free (8,000 credits/month, about 7 min), Plus $11/month billed yearly or $15 monthly (250,000 credits, about 200 min), Pro $75/month billed yearly or $100 monthly (2M credits), Max $749/month billed yearly (25M credits). API: S2.1 Pro $15 per 1M UTF-8 bytes. Checked October 2026 on fish.audio and its API pricing docs.
5. Inworld TTS
Inworld TTS: Realtime TTS-2 and TTS-2 Flash with free instant cloning
Inworld TTS is a per-character speech API with free instant cloning from as little as 3 seconds of audio. TTS-2 Flash advertises first audio from about 50 ms.
Every plan includes professional voice clones too, from 2 on the free On-Demand tier to 40 on Growth. Professional cloning on TTS-2 is still in beta.
Inworld says TTS-2 speaks about 500 languages and dialects. That claim is broad, so test your languages before you migrate a product.
Pros
- Instant cloning is free and works from 3 to 30 seconds of audio
- Clear rates: $15 per million characters on demand for Flash, falling to $7 on Growth
- Free On-Demand tier with up to 70 minutes of TTS
- Professional clone slots on every plan
Cons
- No voice changer or speech-to-speech listed
- Built for apps; there’s no long-form studio
- Professional cloning is in beta
Best for: Developers moving a Resemble API integration who want the lowest predictable per-character bill.
Pricing: On-Demand $0/month (TTS-2 $25/1M chars, Flash $15/1M), Creator $25/month ($20 / $10), Builder $100/month ($17.50 / $9), Developer $300/month ($15 / $8), Growth $1,500/month ($12.50 / $7), Enterprise custom. Checked October 2026 on inworld.ai/pricing.
6. Murf AI
Murf AI: voiceover studio, Voice Changer and the Falcon 2 API
Murf AI is a voiceover studio and API that clones custom brand voices as a managed service for businesses. If your Resemble voice was a single brand voice used across ads, training and IVR, Murf can rebuild it with its team doing the work.
Cloning runs through a sales form, not self-serve. Murf says it supports 20+ languages for clones, and its Falcon 2 page says an enterprise brand voice needs less than a minute of recording.
The studio adds a Voice Changer that turns your recording into one of 200+ stock voices. The Falcon 2 API targets real-time agents with first audio under 100 ms.
Pros
- Managed custom voice cloning for enterprise brands
- Voice Changer for re-voicing recordings with stock voices
- Studio with pitch, speed and emphasis controls, plus Canva and PowerPoint add-ins
- Falcon 2 API with sub-100 ms first audio, per Murf
Cons
- No self-serve cloning: custom voices are an enterprise, contact-sales deal
- API pricing is published two ways: Falcon 2 is advertised at $0.01 per minute, while Murf’s help center lists pay-as-you-go at $0.03 per 1,000 characters
- Studio plans meter yearly hours, so a busy month can drain them early
Best for: Brands that want a managed custom voice plus a studio for non-technical teams. Compare it with others in our Murf AI alternatives roundup.
Pricing: Studio: Creator $19/month billed yearly (24 hours/year), Business $66/month billed yearly (96 hours/year), Enterprise custom with voice cloning. API: 100,000 free trial characters, then pay as you go from a $2 minimum. Checked October 2026 on murf.ai/pricing and the Murf API help center.
7. Chatterbox (open source, from Resemble AI)
Chatterbox: Resemble’s MIT-licensed TTS, cloning and voice conversion models
Chatterbox is Resemble AI’s own open-source voice family, released under the MIT licence and still free to download after the pivot. If you liked Resemble’s sound, this is the only way to keep using its models.
Resemble says Chatterbox clones a voice from five seconds of audio. Chatterbox-Multilingual V3 (500M parameters) does it across 23+ languages.
Chatterbox-Turbo (350M) adds tags like [laugh] in English, and Chatterbox-Nano (110M) runs 3x faster than real time on 8 CPU cores.
The repo also ships a voice conversion example, so you can do speech-to-speech on your own hardware. Every file is stamped with Resemble’s PerTh watermark.
Pros
- Free and MIT-licensed, including commercial use
- Runs on your servers, so no vendor can switch it off
- Zero-shot cloning plus voice conversion in one toolkit
- 27,000+ GitHub stars, so community fixes and wrappers are easy to find
Cons
- No hosted API, SLA or support from Resemble
- New development has slowed: the last commit was July 21, 2026
- You run and pay for the GPUs, and Turbo and Nano are English only
Best for: Engineering teams who want to own their voice stack, and ex-Resemble customers who want its sound without a vendor. Our PlayHT alternatives guide covers Chatterbox for the same reason.
Pricing: Free under the MIT licence; you pay your own compute. Repository checked October 2026 on GitHub.

How to choose the right Resemble AI alternative
- You used Resemble’s professional clones: move to ElevenLabs Professional Voice Cloning, or Cartesia if you also need speed. Bring 30+ minutes of clean audio either way.
- You re-voiced performances with speech-to-speech: start with Respeecher for licensed, studio work, or ElevenLabs’ Voice Changer for volume.
- You ran Resemble’s API in a real-time product: test Cartesia and Inworld side by side from your own region. Latency figures are vendor-reported.
- You need the lowest cost: Inworld TTS-2 Flash and Fish Audio S2.1 Pro both sit at $15 per million on the hosted side, and Chatterbox is free if you have the compute.
- You need a single brand voice managed for you: Murf’s enterprise cloning, or WellSaid if your narration is English only. See our WellSaid Labs alternatives for that lane.
If your real job was translating existing videos so each speaker still sounds like themselves, you may not need a cloning vendor at all. Vidwip AI Video Dubbing clones each speaker from the video and re-voices them in up to 94 languages, but it has no API, no speech-to-speech and no reusable custom voice.
If you need deepfake detection, not voice cloning
Detection is still Resemble AI’s business, so don’t switch away from it for that. Resemble Detect returns a verdict on audio, video and images in under 300 ms, alongside its Watermarker and Identity APIs.
Two alternatives worth a look:
- Reality Defender has a detection API and SDKs, with a free tier of 50 audio or image scans a month.
- Pindrop Pulse detects synthetic speech in contact-center calls and meetings.
Final verdict
Resemble AI isn’t coming back to voice generation, so plan your move while your account and recordings are still in reach. For most teams, ElevenLabs is the safest landing spot: it has instant and professional cloning, speech-to-speech and a mature API.
Pick Respeecher for consent-first studio work, Cartesia or Inworld for real-time agents, and Fish Audio when budget rules. If you never want to lose a voice to a vendor decision again, self-host Chatterbox and keep your own reference audio.
