Seedance 2.5 vs Veo 3.1 in 2026: Which AI Video Model Is Better?

TL;DR

Seedance 2.5 has the stronger independent scores (1155 Elo in text to video against 961 for Veo 3.1 on Artificial Analysis) and makes clips up to 30 seconds, but stops at 720p. Veo 3.1 makes 4, 6 or 8 second clips at up to 4K on Google Cloud (1080p in Vidwip), with native sound. In Vidwip an 8-second shot costs 280 credits on Seedance 2.5 and 480 on Veo 3.1. We did not run either model ourselves.

Seedance 2.5 vs Veo 3.1 pits ByteDance’s long-take video model against Google’s 1080p flagship. This post compares them on realism, motion, native audio, clip length and price per second, with an 8-second shot costed on each.

We could not run the same prompts on both models ourselves, so there is no hands-on test here. Every finding is attributed to a named source: Artificial Analysis leaderboards, Krea’s side-by-side test, vendor pages and published price lists. Prices are US figures, checked November 2026.

TL;DR: Seedance 2.5 vs Veo 3.1

Seedance 2.5 wins on independent scores, clip length and price in Vidwip. Veo 3.1 wins on resolution and on the cheaper Fast and Lite tiers. Pick Seedance 2.5 for long takes and image-to-video; pick Veo 3.1 when you need 1080p or 4K, or the low-cost Veo tiers.

Run both in Vidwip

Vidwip’s AI Video Generator runs Seedance 2.5 and Veo 3.1 in one model picker, on one credit balance. Seedance 2.5 is 35 credits a second, with 4 to 30 second clips at 720p and sound. Veo 3.1 is 60 credits a second, with 4, 6 or 8 second clips at 1080p and sound.

A credit costs $0.01 on Starter monthly ($25 for 2,500) and $0.0079 on Pro annual ($79 a month for 10,000). That makes an 8-second shot cost this much in Vidwip:

Model Credits/s 8-second shot Starter Pro annual
Seedance 2.5 (720p) 35 280 credits $2.80 $2.21
Veo 3.1 (1080p) 60 480 credits $4.80 $3.79
Veo 3.1 Fast (1080p) 19 152 credits $1.52 $1.20
Veo 3.1 Lite (720p) 8 64 credits $0.64 $0.51

Starter’s 2,500 credits cover about 71 seconds of Seedance 2.5, or ten 4-second Veo 3.1 clips. Because the same prompt runs on every model, the models page is the quickest way to run your own test of the two. See pricing for plans.

Seedance 2.5 and Veo 3.1 at a glance

Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance’s audio-video model for long single takes. ByteDance Seed describes it as built for “30-second storytelling with precise reference control.” Our Seedance 2.5 review covers its references, editing and pricing in depth, and how to use Seedance 2.5 walks through a first clip.

Veo 3.1 is Google DeepMind’s Veo model, which Google lists as released on October 15, 2025 in its Gemini API. Google’s page lists 1080p and 4K output, reference images, first and last frame control and scene extension.

Realism and motion

Seedance 2.5 has much stronger independent scores, but they are not a full verdict. On Artificial Analysis’s text to video board (with audio), Dreamina Seedance 2.5 sat 5th at 1155 Elo on November 6, 2026, while Veo 3.1 was at 961, in a tie for 22nd to 24th.

On the image to video board, Seedance 2.5 ranked 1st at 1159 and Veo 3.1 24th at 954. Veo is also about a year older, so some of the gap is simply newer models arriving.

Krea ran the closest thing to a same-prompt test. In its side-by-side (published September 5, 2026), both models got the same start frame, motion prompt and audio setting. Veo’s baker pulling a loaf from an oven read more naturally, while Seedance’s flame and peel handling looked unnatural; Krea said neither handled the peel and oven mouth well.

In Krea’s speaking shot, a park ranger delivering a line, Seedance gave “the more cinematic” result, with the whole face performing the line. Veo gave a steadier close-up that Krea called the safer choice for a locked presenter frame. Krea says its sample is small, and one run per model does not show how often either wins.

Native audio

Both models generate audio in the same pass, so neither needs a separate sound step. Google says Veo creates “sound effects, ambient noise, and even dialogue” natively, and notes that natural speech in shorter segments is still being refined.

ByteDance calls Seedance 2.5 an “audio-video joint generation model,” and fal leaves audio on by default without changing the price. Krea measured Seedance’s audio mix as hotter, at about -27 dB against Veo’s -31.9 dB.

On price, the two differ. Runway charges Veo 3.1 at double the rate with audio on, so silent Veo is half the price. Seedance on fal bills the same either way.

Maximum clip length

Seedance 2.5 makes clips up to 30 seconds, and Veo 3.1 stops at 8. Seedance accepts any whole number from 4 to 30 on fal and in Vidwip. Veo 3.1 accepts only 4, 6 or 8 seconds, per Krea’s spec table and Vidwip’s picker.

Veo’s scene extension builds longer sequences from the last second of a clip. For one continuous take over 8 seconds, Seedance is the simpler route. See our Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5 comparison for the other 30-second model.

Resolution

Veo 3.1 wins on resolution. Google’s page lists 1080p and 4K, and Vidwip runs Veo 3.1 and Fast at 1080p. Seedance 2.5 tops out at 720p on public APIs such as fal, and Vidwip lists it at 720p.

If your delivery target is 1080p or above, that settles it for Veo, unless you upscale.

Price per second

Seedance 2.5 costs less than Veo 3.1 in Vidwip, but the gap closes on other hosts. All figures were checked November 2026:

Where Seedance 2.5 Veo 3.1 Veo 3.1 Fast
fal, 720p, audio about $0.47 a second not listed not listed
Runway API, audio on no Seedance 2.5 rate found $0.40 a second $0.15 a second
Runway API, audio off n/a $0.20 a second $0.10 a second
Vidwip, Starter $0.35 a second $0.60 a second $0.19 a second
Vidwip, Pro annual $0.277 a second $0.474 a second $0.150 a second

On those rates, an 8-second Veo 3.1 shot with audio costs $3.20 on Runway, against $3.78 for Seedance 2.5 on fal.

Google’s own endpoint needs a caveat. Google’s deprecations page lists the three Veo 3.1 preview models as deprecated, with an October 22, 2026 shutdown date, and points to Gemini Omni Flash. Its video docs say the preview “has been shut down” and mention GA Veo on its enterprise platform. We could not read a current Google per-second rate for that GA version, so we do not quote one.

Krea’s September figures put a 6-second silent Veo 3.1 render at $1.26 and $2.52 with audio, about $0.21 and $0.42 a second. For more hosts, see our Google Veo alternatives and cheapest Veo 3.1 provider guides.

Which one should you pick?

Pick by delivery target and shot length.

A cheap workflow is to draft on Veo 3.1 Lite or Fast, then spend credits on the finals. For deeper write-ups see the Veo 3.1 review and the Gemini Omni vs Veo 3.1 comparison.

Conclusion: who wins?

Seedance 2.5 wins on the evidence, and Veo 3.1 wins on resolution. If you want the better-scoring model and long takes, choose Seedance 2.5. If you must deliver 1080p or above, or want Veo’s cheap tiers, choose Veo 3.1.

You can test both on your own prompts in Vidwip’s AI Video Generator, on plans from $25 a month. We will update this post when either model’s leaderboard standing or Google’s pricing changes.
